Metal Art Exhibition

The concept behind the #150mmChallengeAus exhibition originated in a blacksmithing student assignment set by Lecturer Ambrose Burne at Hereford College of Arts (Hereford, UK) which became a viral social media sensation. Blacksmiths around the world have continued to explore the creative limits of 150mm of 20mm mild steel square bar showcasing the breadth of ideas, perspectives, and approaches to the material and process.
In 2022, the Blacksmiths Festival Association called out to metal artists and blacksmiths to expand upon the challenge adding the complexity of copper. The #150mmChallengeAus exhibition on display in the main festival site revealed the results of this fiery call to action.
In 2022 exhibition was a huge success with the majority of pieces sold, proving to be a tremendous example of the creativity in the Australian blacksmithing community.
